Safeguarding – a review of all past and current files
Dear friends, In 2007, the Church of England commissioned a Past Case Review (PCR) which sought to look at the Church’s handling of safeguarding cases over many years. A report in 2018 into the original PCR revealed shortcomings both in the process and final outcome. As a result, the Church of England announced that all dioceses must complete a second review. The Past Case Review (PCR2) is part of the Church’s ongoing scrutiny of its handling of past and current safeguarding cases. Over the course of 2020 in the Diocese of Chester, an Independent Reviewer will look at all safeguarding records and files relating to church officers, both lay and ordained, past and present. All parishes and church settings are required to respond. We will be checking our Parish records as far as we are able. Information is not being requested on worshippers and those attending church activities who do not hold a role in the parish. If you have any knowledge of any safeguarding issues pertaining to anyone holding a leadership role at All Saints Church Lawton since 1940 please contact us on the numbers overleaf or ring Pauline Butterfield, Diocesan Safeguarding Officer, on 01928 718834 or out of office hours 07703 800031 or email pauline.butterfield@anglican.org All information will be treated as confidential. Thank you Margaret Cruxton (Parish Safeguarding Officer).

Safeguarding
We understand safeguarding to be an integral part of the life and ministry of our Church. The care and protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults visiting and participating in Church activities is important to us, everyone who participates in the life of the church has a role to play in promoting a safer church for all.
In order to do this:
All Saints Church has adopted and implements the House of Bishops’ Safeguarding Policies:
The Church of England Parish Safeguarding Handbook brings into one place and summarises safeguarding responsibilities of the parish as outlined in the House of Bishops’ Policies and Practise Guidance. It supports the day to day work of the parish in relation to safeguarding.
All Saints Parish Safeguarding Policy may be viewed here.
Further Church of England Safeguarding policies and guidance can be found in the safeguarding e-manual.
All members of the Ministry Team, the PCC and Messy Church have undergone Safeguarding Training and have been DBS checked.
A simple leaflet detailing what safeguarding entails and who and how to contact someone can be accessed here along with a leaflet about E safety.
If you have any concerns about either yourself or another person that may be being harmed or is at risk of harm, please contact us straight away. If you are concerned about anybody working or volunteering within the church acting inappropriately we want to know.
